Student Board

Ryan Gianola, Presidentrzg5044@psu.edu


Ryan is a senior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management focusing on Hotels, Resort, and Country Club Management. Aside from his Hillel involvement, Ryan is the Vice President of thePenn State Glee Club, a Penn State Lion Scout, and a member of the Club Managers’ Association of America. He spends his time keeping busy with his organizations, singing, and playing tennis. Being on his 2nd term on Hillel Student Board, Ryan is a very social and engaging member. His main mission is to introduce new students to Hillel and provide a great Jewish experience for the students that are invloved.

 


Sally HammerSally Hammer, Vice President

Sally is from West Orange, New Jersey and is a junior here at Penn State. She is currently working towards a major in Nutrition with a minor in Jewish Studies. Sally enjoys that Hillel is a way for Jewish students to come together for a variety of both religious and social events. In her free time Sally loves doing anything outdoors, traveling, cooking, playing sports, engaging in new experiences, and spending time with her family and friends.

Sarah Dafilou is a junior in the Schreyer Honors College studying Jewish Studies with minors in biochemistry and anthropology. In addition to work on the student board, she is the external relations intern working on the content for the newsletters that Penn State Hillel sends out. She is a member of the second Presidential Leadership Academy class and 4th and 6th grade teacher at Congregation Brit Shalom. This year she is looking forward to potluck dinners with her friends and the variety of programs Hillel is bringing to Penn State!

 

Dana RobinsonDana Robinson, Religious Co-Chair dmr5239@psu.edu

Dana is a junior from Columbia, Maryland. She is majoring in Agricultural Science with minors in Horticulture, Jewish Studies, and Leadership Development. She hopes to one day combine her interests in agriculture and Jewish programming to develop a Jewish community center and sustainable farm. She is active in the Jewish community as a third grade Hebrew teacher at the local synagogue, Brit Shalom. In her free time Dana enjoys cooking with friends, crocheting, watching movies, gardening, and spending time with family. 
 

 

 


Beth RudoyBeth Rudoy, Treasurer

Beth is a junior in the Schreyer Honors College majoring in History with minors in Education Policy Studies and English. She loves teaching and tutoring and hopes to pursue a future within the field of education. She is a co-founder of the Literary Lions, where she leads a reading program at a local elementary school, Easterly Parkway, each week. At Penn State, Beth is also a peer tutor at the Writing Center and part of the Presidential Leadership Academy. In her spare time, Beth enjoys traveling, eating ice cream, swimming, and spending time with her wonderful family and friends. Beth is looking forward to a great year with Penn State Hillel!

Rachel is a sophomore in the Schreyer Honors College, double majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Sociology with a minor in Business. She is from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and loves being an obnoxious Philadelphia sports fan. Besides serving her second term as Marketing Chair of Hillel, Rachel is a Homecoming Captain, a THON committee member, a sister of Alpha Delta Pi, and a marketing intern for Penn State Athletics. In her free time, Rachel likes to watch Disney movies, tie-dye anything white she can find, and balance trips to the gym with eating endless amounts of Kiwi froyo. She is a very outgoing person who loves meeting new people, so feel free to give her a buzz.

Sarah Motis is a junior studying elementary education with a minor in Spanish. She is the secretary of Hillel and is excited to be on the board for the first time. She leads reform services on Friday nights. She enjoys singing, playing flute, gymnastics, knitting, and hanging out with friends. She is looking forward to all the fun events this year in Hillel!

Jenna is a sophomore at Penn State majoring in Actuarial Science through Smeal College of Business and minoring in Economics. She enjoys eating cookie dough, British accents, and of course, being involved in Hillel. Her favorite part about the organization is how it brings a large variety of students together, and she hopes to see even more faces in the upcoming year. Jenna loves meeting new people, so if you're up for endearing conversation, give her a call! Shout out to her sock monkey, Yogi.

Rachel Lindsay

Rachel is a junior from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania majoring in Psychology. This is her first year as a part of Hillel’s Student Board. Rachel’s passion is playing and coaching basketball. She is a member of the Penn State Women’s Club Basketball team and a mentor for HealthWorks, a program through the University Health Services that increases awareness and knowledge of health issues and advocates for a healthy Penn State community. Rachel recently traveled to Israel this past summer where she studied abroad on a 10-day archaeological study tour in Caesarea, the Golan Heights and Masada. In her free time, Rachel loves to snowboard, listen to music and enjoy the company of friends and family.

Brittany Goldman is a sophomore from Long Island, New York, majoring in English and double minoring in Business and Sociology. She is extremely excited to be apart of the Hillel student board! She is also a member of Ohana and is a part of their merchandise committee. Brittany enjoys writing, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She is looking forward to eventually going on Taglit-Birthright Israel, meeting new people, and to all the events Hillel has in store!

Jonathan is from Rockville, Maryland and is a Freshman here at Penn State. He is currently undecided, but leaning toward a major in International Relations with a minor in Kinesiology.  Jonathan really enjoys the Jewish atmosphere here at Hillel and loves the fact that we have a Shabbat diner every Friday; he is constantly meeting new Jewish students. Besides being involved in Hillel, Jonathan is also in the Tae Kwon Do Club and is in A-7 THON. His favorite foods are Mac 'N' Cheese, M&M's, and, of course, matza ball soup.

Rachel Zeifer is a freshman from Franklin Lakes, New Jersey and is majoring in Accounting in the Smeal College of Business. In addition to being part of the Hillel student board, Rachel is a member of the Penn State Investment Association (PSIA). In her free time, she enjoys running, baking, ice skating, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. She is looking forward to a great year with Hillel and meeting tons of new people!

Steven is a freshman from Bethesda, Maryland in the College of Engineering. Extremely excited to be a part of Hillel’s Student Board. Steven loves the way the Hillel interacts with all different types of students and connects them religiously and socially through their many amazing events and Friday night services. He is planning to go on Hillel’s alternative Spring Break trip to Argentina through the JDC, as well as Israel with Birthright in either the summer or next winter. Steven is also involved in a service living option for freshman, BE House (be engaged), and Penn State Ski Club, and BEE House THON organization. In his free time, Steven enjoys skiing, watching movies, and being with his great friends and loving family.

Ilyssa is a freshman from East Brunswick, New Jersey and is currently in the Division of UndergraduateStudies. She is thrilled to be a member of Penn State Hillel’s student board! In her free time, Ilyssa enjoys running, and catching up with friends. In addition to her involvement with Penn State Hillel, she is also a member of the OPPerations committee for THON 2012, and a member of a newly forming Jewish sorority interest group here on campus. Ilyssa recently traveled to Israel this past summer on a three week BBYO Trek program where she completed the Sea to Sea hike, climbed Masada, as well as toured cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. She cannot wait to be a part of all the new events Hillel has to offer for the 2012 school year!

Brian Schachter, General Board  bes5205@psu.edu

Brian and is a sophomore studying supply chain management and minoring in information systems management; Brian is from Dresher, Pennsylvania, a small suburb outside of Philadelphia. This is his first year on Hillel board and he's really enjoying it and feeling like he is making a difference. Brian is involved in THON and is always trying to make a difference in both Hillel board and THON. In his spare time, Brian loves watching movies, doing somersaults, and seeing friends.
