Student Life

Penn State Hillel is proud to support the 6,000 Jewish students at Penn State by providing numerous and varied opportunities for students to explore the cultural, religious, and social aspects of Judaism. As one of the largest student organizations on campus, Penn State Hillel offers a vast array of programming, including social justice, Israel advocacy, Shabbat dinners, speakers, and multiple travel opportunities each year. Jewish life on campus is student-led and supported by a diverse professional team.

Penn State Hillel serves as an umbrella organization for more than 10 Jewish organizations, initiatives, and internships. From our Jewish Outdoors group to our two Jewish community service organizations, there really is something for everyone. And if there's something you'd like to see that we don't already offer, we can help you create it!

Jewish student life at Penn State has seen tremendous growth in recent years. Regarded by both Jewish and non-Jewish students as a dynamic and connected organization, we take pride in the relationships we have formed with other student organizations and within the Penn State community. In April 2010, Penn State Hillel was the sole recipient of Penn State’s Spiritual Leadership Award for the second consecutive year, recognizing Penn State Hillel as the outstanding religious student organization on campus. Additionally, in awarding Penn State Hillel with the Outstanding Collaborative Program of the Year Award, Penn State acknowledged the important role Penn State Hillel plays in promoting understanding and collaboration on campus.
